Ignoring Messages to Stop Dividing

Cells are not permitted to divide without external authorisation.  This is both permissive and prohibitive.  Cells in the body must get permission to divide.  But while they wait, they get signals telling them not to divide.

There are some strict mesages about when reproduction can take place.

Many human societies have strong messages which ban reproduction except in authorised setting.  Despite this, some people find a way to escape from this ban.

Cancer cells can learn to ignore the rules.

When cells stop hearing the messages not to divide they have damaged a key instruction in the manual of teamwork.
